In the pretty Saint Emilion appellation, Château Bellevue still bears the marks of the Roman vintners who once worked the grounds. The Château has passed through many owners throughout its history but more recently has settled under the joint guardianship of established Bordeaux families and vintners, Pradel de Lavaux and de Bouard de Laforest. The vineyard sits in the highest point of the Saint Emilion limestone plateau. South facing and enriched by a blend of limestone and clay soil, the vineyard unusually grows just Merlot. This ensures an unadulterated expression of the merlot and the terroir. While each vintage will impart its own nuanced flavor profile, Bellevue Merlots share in their floral and spicy bouquets. They are elegant and structured with rich and warm notes.
