One of the classic wineries of Barossa, Rockford is revered for their traditional wines made using age-old techniques and equipment, including the famous Basket Press which doubles as the name for their flagship Shiraz. Robert O’Callaghan founded Rockford and, along with Peter Lehmann, holds a special place in the history of the region as one of those who helped support farmers by buying their crop when the government were running a vine-pull scheme in the 1970s and 1980s. Without their efforts, much of the famous old vineyards would have been destroyed. The wines are hard to come by, but for those who do, they consistently impress in an effortless, old-fashioned way
