Château Hosanna is, in name, a relative new-comer in Pomerol. Until 1999, the plot was part of Château Certan-Giraud, when it was sold to the Moueix family who renamed it Hosanna. Vines have been grown here since the 16th century and the area is well-known for its immensely appealing wines. There is no château to mark Hosanna, purely a parcel of well-located, old-vines in the heart of the Pomerol plateau. The vineyard is small, just 4.5 hectares and planted with 70% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc on clay and gravel soils similar to that of its neighbours, Château Petrus and Vieux Château Certan. While it is a name which can fly under the radar, the Moueix family are focussed on creating top quality Pomerol to rival the greats and as it comes in at a lower price than many of its competitors, it’s an estate well worth following.
