Domaine Sylvain Cathiard et Fils is in the capable hands of Sébastien Cathiard, Sylvain’s son. A thoughtful, focused winemaker who seeks to improve with each vintage, his wines have the clarity and precision found in the finest Pinot Noir. He trained in Chablis, Bordeaux and New Zealand and his commitment to vineyard quality shines through his wines. The domaine was started by Sylvain’s grandfather in the 1930s, but it was Sylvain’s magic touch during the 1990s that saw his wines flourish to become one of Vosne-Romanée’s most sought-after producers. Sébastien has further raised the domaine's reputation, using less new oak than his father, building a modern, airy winery and cellar, and adding in some new vineyards in the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits and Gevrey-Chambertin.
