On the eastern coast of Italy, near the port of Ancona, Villa Bucci is the standout producer of the Castelli di Jesi DOCG. The estate itself is some 400 hectares in total, with just 26 hectares planted with vines. The majority, 21 hectares, are Verdicchio, spread across six vineyards. Current incumbent Ampelio Bucci is helped by legendary consultant oenologist Giorgio Grai, who’s worked here for almost 30 years. It’s then aged in 70 year old oak barrels for two years, a remarkable approach resulting in a remarkable wine
