La Morra
With just over 829 hectares of vines in the Barolo production area with 39 MGAs, La Morra is the commune that produces the largest amount of Barolo each year.
The wines from La Morra are known for their grace, perfume and charm. It is the commune with the highest altitude in the Barolo region meaning wines that maintain a lot of freshness due to the often large diurnal shift.
The soil in this commune is complex and diverse but mainly consists of silt, clay and sandy Tortonian soils with some limestone. Some of the most famous vineyards include Brunate, Cerequio, and Rocche dell’Annunziata.
