Langham Estate pride themselves in crafting terroir-driven sparkling wines using grapes only grown on the chalk soils of their Dorset vineyard. Taking a low-intervention approach in both the vineyard and to wine production, the results are impressive - and the wines represent brilliant value for the immense quality. Awarded Sparkling Wine Producer of the Year 2020 by the IWSC competition.

N/V Corallian Classic Cuvée Extra Brut, Langham Wine Estate, Dorset (2020 Base Vintage) Dry | White | Sparkling | 12%

Corallian, Langham’s Chardonnay dominant cuvée is focused, saline and elegant, while at the same time expresses beautifully the warmth of 2020’s turbulent summer in its fruit. The nose has hints of sea buckthorn with apricot and candied orange, while the ripe palate is weighted, with hints of mango, quince and lemon peel. Wonderfully energetic. Dosage: 1.5 g/L

N/V Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut, Langham Wine Estate, Dorset (2019 Base Vintage) Dry | White | Sparkling | 12%

Mostly from the 2019 vintage and aged on the lees for two years, this is a vibrant, energetic and concentrated Blanc de Blancs. The nose balances ripe green apple, conference pear, white flowers and an intense graphite minerality. The palate is detailed yet weighty in texture, with soft ripe pear, honeydew melon and white grapefruit acidity, finishing with a long fresh, saline finish. Dosage : 1.5g/l

N/V Culver Classic Cuvée Extra Brut, Langham Wine Estate, Dorset (2020 Base Vintage) Dry | White | Sparkling | 12%

Culver is Langham’s pinot-dominant Classic Cuvee, and is more rich and broad in character than Corallian, its chardonnay-dominant counterpart. This difference is highlighted in the warm 2020 vintage base wines, with bright red cherry, cranberry and apple blossom on the nose. There are rich, creamy, fine bubbles to the medium length, and nice freshness combining with spice and minerality. Dosage: 2 g/l

N/V Rosé Extra Brut, Langham Wine Estate, Dorset (2019 Base Vintage) Dry | Rosé | Sparkling | 12%

An elegant, delicious and complex Rosé. Aromatic nose of raspberry and pomegranate, followed by subtle notes of marzipan and brown butter.The palate is rich and open, with a wonderful creamy texture and notes of mandarin and fresh apricots. Structured and textural, with blood orange acidity and a dry finish at just 2g/L dosage.

Founded in 1995 by Mike and Chris Roberts, pioneering estate Ridgeview crafts world-class sparkling wine in Sussex, with an emphasis on quality and sustainability from vine to glass. Winner of the IWSC 'International Winemaker of the Year' in 2018, Ridgeview wines have been served at numerous Royal occasions and State Banquets. 

2015 Blanc de Noirs Brut, Ridgeview, Sussex Dry | White | Sparkling | 12%

The 2015 Blanc de Noirs from Ridgeview is a blend of 52% Pinot Noir and 48% Pinot Meunier, which spends 6 years ageing on lees before release offering depth, richness and complexity. Round and expressive, toasty autolytic notes combine with apricot and earthy red fruit aromas on the nose. The palate has wonderful weight and texture, singing with sappy red cherry and toasted almond. The finish is long, engaging and harmonious.

2018 Blanc de Blancs Brut, Ridgeview, Sussex Dry | White | Sparkling | 12%

100% Chardonnay from the fantastic 2018 vintage. Bright citrus blossom aromas combine with freshly cut grapefruit, lemon sherbet and a buttery pastry.The palate has layers of fresh green apple and white peach with plenty of biscuity notes on the rich, creamy back palate. There is wonderful energy, with a fine bead of linear acidity racing through the saline finish, yet it remains juicy, open and inviting. Delicious.

Together they manage three exceptional, mature vineyards across the South Downs of Sussex, the earliest planted in 2005 and 2006 on chalk soils.

Nyetimber

Nyetimber owns vineyards across nine separate sites stretching along the green sandstone and chalk hills of the South East of England, from Kent to Hampshire, and all the wines come entirely from estate grown fruit. In 2018 Head Winemaker Cherie Spriggs was named Sparkling Winemaker of the Year at the International Wine Challenge, the first such accolade for a female winemaker and for someone working outside the Champagne region.

N/V Classic Cuvée, Nyetimber, England (2019 Base Vintage) Dry | White | Sparkling | 12%

The Classic Cuvée is a multi-vintage blend, coming from the hundreds of hectares of vineyards owned by Nyetimber. This iteration comprises a majority of 2019 base wine but also has a considerable percentage of reserve wines in the blend (dating back to 2007). It’s a brilliant introduction to the range. Creamy and fruit forward, there’s lovely structure, with a long and chalky finish.

2016 Blanc de Blancs, Nyetimber, England Dry | White | Sparkling | 12%

Blanc de Blancs was the first style that Nyetimber made, and was a huge success upon its release in 1996. Made from 100% estate-grown fruit from Sussex and Hampshire and in only the best years, this latest release: the Nyetimber Blanc de Blancs 2016 is bright, perfectly balanced and full of vibrancy. Aromas of freshly squeezed lemon, pink apple and white blossom combine with a charming biscuity note. The palate is crisp, pure and mineral, laden with fresh orchard fruit and citrus. Long, creamy, and complex in the finish : a truly benchmark Chardonnay from England.

Wiston

The beautiful family-run Wiston estate has been owned and run by the Goring family since 1743 and is located in the Sussex South Downs. In 2006, the family planted a south-facing 16-acre site with Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay vines. A multiple award-winner, having won Wine GB Winery of the year in 2018, 2020, 2021 and 2022, among many other individual accolades for its wines, this property is a hotbed for world-class sparkling wine.

N/V Blanc de Blancs, Wiston Estate, South Downs (Disgorgement August 2022) Dry | White | Sparkling

The Wiston Blanc de Blancs NV is wonderfully fresh with vibrant acidity and perfect balance. Crisp green apple and elegant notes of kumquat come to the fore, along with a flinty minerality. The finish is long, crisp and clean.

2016 Cuvée Brut, Wiston Estate, South Downs Dry | White | Sparkling

The Wiston Estate Cuvée Brut 2016 is now drinking beautifully with enticing notes of honeyed citrus, toasted almonds and brioche. The 2016 Cuvée has impressive depth and complexity, with that signature precision and elegance in spades. Displaying a delightful creaminess on the finish, this wine is delicious now. However, it will also mature beautifully for a decade or more in the cellar.

2010 Blanc de Blancs, Wiston Estate, South Downs (Library Release) Dry | White | Sparkling | 12%

2010 was a benchmark year at Wiston: a vintage of perfect balance between yield & ripeness of fruit, which produced extraordinarily complex and elegant wines. This limited-edition, single vineyard, 100% Chardonnay Blanc de Blancs has savoury layers of mushroom, spice and truffle with notes of lemon zest, biscuit and crushed oyster shells. Generous and very long. A wonderful example of how beautifully English Blanc de Blancs can age.

Rathfinny

Mark and Sarah Driver founded Rathfinny in 2010, on a working arable farm just outside the picture-perfect village of Alfriston in East Sussex. Everything from the state-of-the-art cellar to the labels that show off Sussex’s famous Seven Sisters, just a few miles down the road, has been very carefully thought out, and the wines balance purity and ripeness of fruit with an incredible freshness.

Another stunning Classic Cuvée from the beautiful Rathfinny estate. Bright and vibrant nose of fresh citrus peel and floral notes. Crisp and racy palate, with the purity of fruit lending a balanced, stony weight to the mouthwatering finish. Perfect as an aperitif or with food!

The 2017 Rathfinny Blanc de Blancs is a stunning fizz from a remarkably beautiful estate. Striking the perfect balance between juicy and tart, this is packed full of lemony freshness with a lovely creaminess. This is absolutely delicious today, but will also age wonderfully. Don’t miss it.

2018 Rosé Brut, Rathfinny, Sussex Dry | Rosé | Sparkling | 12%

Just the fourth vintage of rosé from Rathfinny, this is the finest example of the style that we’ve tasted from the UK. Pale in colour, there’s notes of Seville oranges and plenty of floral notes. This has structure and vibrancy, and there’s a delicious toasty complexity at play on the palate. Wonderfully balanced, and very long: not to be missed.

Everflyht

Set at the foot of Ditchling Beacon, this single vineyard estate was established by owners Sam and Ben Ellis, who bought it in 2015, inspired by family travels, as well as their fervent passion for sparkling wines. Led by vineyard manager Luke Spalding (formerly of Ridgeview), the Ellis family began planting 6.8 hectares of vines in 2016, including the traditional English sparkling wine varieties Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. 

N/V Brut, Everflyht, Sussex Dry | White | Sparkling | 12%

The Everflyht Brut N/V reflects the current estates planting which combines Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in equal measure with a touch of Meunier. Hand-picked from the single estate vineyard and created in a low intervention method using steel, new and old oak to bring the best from each variety and block. Aged for 20 months on the lees, with around 24% reserve wines going into the blend, and just 6 g/l dosage added, this is a fresh yet generous English fizz, with lots of green and red apple fruit, and a long and elegant finish: the perfect way to discover Everflyht.

Hambledon

Founded in 1952 by Major-General Sir Guy Salisbury-Jones, Hambledon is England’s oldest commercial vineyard, with wines even served to French president Jacques Pompidou during an embassy reception in the 1970s.  Hambledon’s vineyards lie on Newhaven chalk soils - the same soils that are found in Champagne’s Côte des Blancs.
