Pétrus produces some of the most highly prized wine in all of Bordeaux, if not the world. Pétrus red wine owes its exclusivity to its scarcity (in some years there are no bottles produced at all, at most only 30,000), the quality of its terroir and the maturity of its vines. Some are 70 years old before they are replanted. 95% of the wine made by Pétrus is Merlot, and for those lucky enough to uncork one of its bottles, they report a taste that is truly extraordinary. Pétrus wines are aged for at least ten years, but some of its best vintages keep on improving as the years go by.
