More About Domaine Dauvissat-Camus

A loyal following among France’s most esteemed restaurateurs means that remarkably little of their prized production makes it out of their homeland. So we’re delighted to offer an impressive parcel in bond on behalf of one of our customers, from no less than the praised 2009 vintage.

Dauvissat was founded in the 1920s, and is now run by Vincent who started working with his father in 1976. The Domaine owns 11 hectares of vineyards which are spread over the Grand Crus of Les Clos and Preuses and three Premier Cru vineyards, including the famous Forêt. This vineyard, a small section of the larger Montmains vineyard, is often considered to produce wines of a parallel quality to the Grands Crus.

Tiny yields due to rigorous work in the vineyards and strict selection of the grapes at harvest marks Dauvissat out within Chablis; so too does the fact that all his wines spend at least a year in Nevers oak barrels, with a small portion new, giving weight and depth to the flavours and texture.

The result is wines that rival the world’s very best for intensity and complexity. They are the perfect expression of Chablis’ unique terroir, and the praise and attention that they have received from critics including Robert Parker, Hugh Johnson and Allen Meadows comes as no surprise. This is a rare opportunity to purchase wines which have both an outstanding pedigree and impeccable provenance, from a producer that simply must be tried.
