One of the most talented vignerons in Champagne, Francis Egly took the helm of the family business in the 1980s. Inheriting grand and premier cru vineyards Ambonnay, Bouzy and Verzenay among others. Prior to Egly’s leadership, the Domaine sold most of their grapes to negociants but under Egly’s guidance, production was moved on-site, and Egly Ouriet became one of the original grower champagne producers. The estate rests in the Montagne de Reims region where the chalky slopes and cool climate favour pinot noir and chardonnay varieties. This unique setting, combined with Ouriet’s commitment to traditional winemaking methods and biodynamic farming practices culminates in the creation of powerful, expressive champagnes.
