Resting in the belly of an active volcano, Estate Argyros produces exceptional wine in one of the most surreal landscapes known to viticulture. Embraced by the hot Mediterranean climate and graced with mineral rich volcanic soil, the winery receives little to no rainfall. It is this otherworldly environment that gives Estate Argyros and their wines their unique character. The winery thrives in this seemingly hostile environ by using the indigenous ‘Assyrtikos’ grape and the traditional ‘kouloura’ method to shield its vines from the elements. Volcanic soils impart a distinctive minerality to these wines while the relentless sun, coupled with expertly timed harvesting, make these grapes perfectly concentrated, with a subtle yet marked expression of the terroir. Argyros vinsantos are particularly noteworthy for their aromatic notes and breathtaking complexity.
