A family estate based in the little village of Monforte,
Manzone are one of our very favourite Barolo
producers, not just for their wines but also for their
ability to make the experience of enjoying fine wine
so friendly.
They own just 8.5 hectares of vineyards in Monforte,
with vines in the commune’s very best vineyards, where
steep slopes and poor soils lead to low yields but
intense and concentrated grapes.
Cheerful, hardworking winemaker (and star of the
local football team, the Barolo Boys) Mauro Manzone
joined the family estate in 2005, with sister Mirella
following him in 2012. They work alongside father
Giovanni to make Barolos that are approachable
with pure fruit, but that remain recognisably true to
their roots.
They’re fantastic for anyone first approaching the
wines of Barolo.
