Would it be too presumptuous to call Klein Constantia South Africa’s greatest winery? Probably not. The location alone would have any wine lover salivating – amid the foothills of the Constantiaberg in Table Mountain National Park, basking in stunning views of False Bay. The cool climate of the vineyards here, with the high altitude and ocean breezes, are the perfect conditions for the production of Klein Constantia’s signature sweet wine, Vin de Constance, which they have been making since the 18th century. Vin de Constance was one of only three wines from the southern hemisphere to be included in David Cobbold’s list of the ‘44 greatest wines in the world’. Klein Constantia’s Sauvignon Blanc is also held in high regard.
