An intriguing name for an exciting winery right in the heart of the Mornington Peninsula, an emerging wine region to the south of Melbourne. When three local family vineyards decided to pool their resources in 1997, they were all within ‘ten minutes by tractor’ of each other. The McCutcheon, Wallis and Judd vineyards formed their cooperative initially to share equipment, but their first wines were so well received that the wine establishment started to take notice. Martin Spedding liked the wine so much he bought the winery, added new vineyards and has built Ten Minutes by Tractor into one of the leading cool climate wineries in Australia. Specialising in Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, their wines are elegant, focused and full of character, and look set for even greater things.
