Founded in 2001 by Chris Williams and James Reid, their first vintage had to be made in an old blacksmith’s forge when there wasn’t enough space in the cellar they were borrowing. And so the name was born. Chris’ day job is winemaker at Meerlust, while James owns a vineyard on the legendary Voor Paardeberg. His white Rhône varieties are some of the best anywhere, finding texture without heaviness.
