Castiglione Falletto
Located in the centre of the Barolo region, this is certainly home to some of the most famous vineyards with a total of 22 MGAs. At just 220 hectares planted to vine, it is far from the largest but is relatively homogeneous in terms of soil.
Stylistically speaking this commune bridges the gap between the lift, aromatics and finesse of the north western part of the region and the more rigid structure and mineral core of the communes of Monforte and Serralunga. Indeed, from a soil perspective, Castiglione Falletto bridges the gap between Tortonian and Serravalian soils with a higher sand content towards the border with Monforte.
The most famous vineyards areas of this commune include Rocche di Castiglione, Villero, and Bricco Boschis.
